Last few weeks have been non-stop ! Starting with writing the pop hits in Los Angeles a month ago, then writing in Toronto, followed by some east coast shows, then drove back to Toronto for Canadian Music Week. I arrived home in Cape Breton exhausted and content after this run. We got a lot of great response to our CMW shows, here is some of what the people are saying (including some photos):

    I usually start these posts by apologizing for how long it was since my last update (December?), so this time I'm going to skip that and just tell you what I've been doing. We're all friends here.
 
Spent the first few months of 2012 (Happy New Year!!!) writing my butt off in Nashville, Los Angeles, Toronto and Halifax. Probably the most creative period of my entire life thus far. Lots of writing for other artists, but along the way I have collected half the songs for my next album, so I'm starting to see my next piece of work take shape. Lots of new friends and collaborators which have been influential along the way. Shout out to Gordie Sampson for letting me crash at his house and to SOCAN for giving me a place to stay in LA.

Lots of fun shows coming up in the next few weeks. Playing at the Symphony Nova Scotia launch party tomorrow, Casino Nova Scotia in Halifax on Friday (which is free, come!), PEI for the weekend with pals Mo Kenney and Dylan Gouthro, then driving back to Toronto to play 365,234 shows over Canadian Music Week. Needless to say, I'm excited to get back out and see some of your faces again! Check the SHOWS section of the site for specific venues, dates, times, etc.

Halifax friends, you will also be excited to learn we are playing on New Year’s Eve in Parade Square! We are opening the night (and television broadcast on ATV) at around 9:30 PM. This is a FREE show, come occupy the square with us. Carleton guarantees no dirty underwear will be hanging on trees. Also are the bill are Three Sheet and The Mellotones. We like both of those bands A LOT, so you should too.

Next year is going to jam-packed with tons of shows, writing trips, and general amazing-ness. I’ll be heading to Nashville for a big-kid writing trip in mid-January, back to southern Ontario for a run of shows with Ladies of the Canyon and BFFs THE HEARTBROKEN, then more writing in Los Angeles in February and March. Holy frig. I am super excited to be opening for Tom Wilson (Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Junkhouse, Lee Harvey Osmond). Hoping to see a large, east coast contingent of economic refugees at these shows!

How are things with you in internet land? I am currently in Cape Breton, packing my bags once again to head back to Toronto this evening for some writing and shows. Had a great week home demo-ing new songs and sleeping. A LOT. Be jealous…

The Sydney release is during the Right Some Good food festival at the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion (the Big Fiddle). Here’s the deal: tickets for a night of entertainment AND a lobster dinner, regular $75 each, are available to you for only $29! Tickets are limited so BUY NOW and be entered to WIN an additional pair of tickets.

On August 28, I’ll be back in Halifax at the Carleton for the Halifax Urban Folk Festival. The show is at 9PM and seating is limited so tell your friends & come early! For advance tickets, you can call (902) 422-6335 with a credit card or drop by the Carleton (1685 Argyle St). If you want preferred seating, the Carleton recommends making a dinner reservation.

I’m happy to report I’ll now be booked by the amazing team at Paquin Entertainment. Proud to join the roster of incredible musicians. See you at the CD release!
